Fenix launches HM61R V3.0 1800 Lumens multi function headlamp

Offering not just a single white light output, this latest model has 3 including a Spotlight, Floodlight and Red mode, giving users increased flexibility on a single unit. Compared to the V2, this one offers significant upgrades including more power, longer range, choice of spot/flood white light, and a new dual switch for rapid operation.

A clever quick release mechanism is built into the headband (which has ventilation holes/reflective markings), letting you remove or attach it quickly, therefore not only a headlamp in the field, it can be used hand held too or clipped to a jacket/back thanks to the stainless steel clip.

A magnetic base increases your attachment options too, useful for a working light or in the garage.

Power is from a single 18650 battery rated to 4000mAh, and up to 300 hours run time (lowest output). USB-C charging is built into the headlamp, and can charge the battery to full in just 2.5 hours.

Fenix as expected are using premium aluminum alloy body materials, anodised to resist damage. A drop test rating of 2 metres was passed, and a high IP rating of IP68 for water and dust resistance and use in harsh weather conditions.

As it’s an 18650 powered lamp, it’s not a large size possible the ideal combination of run time and footprint, at only 105.4mm x 38mm x 50.9mm, it has a weight of 167.6g including battery.

Spotlight, Floodlight and Red light outputs, with a range of up to 195 metres

Dual white lights thanks to the SST40 LED (Gen 2) for the main spotlight power which can high the 195 metres distance, and an Osram 1414 which provides the floodlight beam (with a high CRI rating of 90+). Red light is also here, which provides an extra layer of usability with static and flashing modes available.

Levels from 1800 down to 30 lumens in spotlight (4 for this mode), 200 down to 5 lumens in floodlight (3 levels), and the red has 3 levels too from a useful 70 lumens (more than enough to see clearly with) down to 3 lumens and a flashing mode for safety.

A clever dual switch UI was developed, this has a different feel for both switches to simplify operation. The raised mode switch cycles the spot/flood/red output, with the larger main switch for On/Off, power selection and lockout etc.
