Designed for use on a hard hat, or worn normally with the elasticated headband, the new TXM50R from coast is another rugged, versatile headlamp which has a useful adjustable beam profile.
The 5 power levels reach up to 1250 lumens power, with a low mode of 6 lumens (moon glow) giving you a good spread of output for various tasks. A key features is the adjustable beam with the option to use a flood or spotlight profile.
Supplied headband is breathable, adjustable and has an anti slip backing. Coast all provide a hard hat mount, so you can clip the headlamp into the cradle and stick it onto a safety helmet (via an adhesive pad on the back).
Dual power sources, the supplied ZX850 Li-ion cell (18650 size), or 2 x CR123A/16340 batteries can be used as a spare or back up. USB-C charging is present with a slit cable provided in the box.
It also comes with a stainless steel clip, and features a magnetic base making it a useful addition for any working light or camping etc.
Top grade materials are used, with aero grade aluminum alloy, extra grip on the body and tail cap, and with it’s IP54 weather resistance rating, good for use in all types of conditions including strong rainfall. It’s relatively compact (11.6cm length) and fairly light at around 154g (including the battery).
4 Power levels with a choice of Floodlight or Spotlight beam profiles
One of the best features with the TXM50R is the “Twist Focus” mode, where you are able to adjust the beam profile, a wider flood like pattern for a more spread out light, or for greater distance you can rotate the head to give a tighter spotlight output.
A wide range of levels including 1250 lumens Turbo, 520 lumens high, 150 lumens for mid level and 50 lumens low. Coat also included a very low output of 6 lumens for battery saving, and when using the headlamp at close distances. In the 6 lumen level (moon glow), it can run for 190 hours per full charge. Top range is quoted at 188 metres.
A large switch has a backlight LED which glows to indicate the power level, and it has a simple operation ensuring that all users find the UI intuitive and easy to pick up.
