The Fenix E Series continues to grow with some new models. This time the E35R flashlight is a high output every day carry style in a small body which measures just 120mm in length, and with a weight of 148g (including battery). Despite the small size, the Fenix has a serious power source in the form of a high capacity 5000mAh 21700 rechargeable Li-ion battery.
With 5 power levels ranging from an Eco mode of 30 lumens, up to the blazing 3000 lumens in Turbo, the large capacity battery can power the E35R for as long as 69 hours (Eco mode). A quoted range of 260 metres (Turbo) gives a good balance between flood and spotlight, with a candela of 15,103cd
Fenix are using their HA111 hard anodizing finish which resists marks and abrasion, and have certified it to IP68 water resistance, which can be submersed for up to 4 hours to a depth of 2 metres.
A type C connection is built into the flashlight body, and offers a charging speed from empty to full in 3 hours. The power switch also has a charge indicator, and has a multi stage battery level display.
The magnetic tail cap also lets you attach the E35R to metal objects, making it a useful work or inspection flashlight.
5 Power Levels with a top output of 3100 lumens
Being small and compact doesn’t mean lacking in performance, Fenix have created a pocket friendly powerhouse, using the well respected Luminus SST70 LED, and specially designed TIR optical lens to provide a uniform beam pattern - itcan reach in the Turbo mode oan impressive 3100 lumens, and a range of 260 metres. The 4 other levels including a high at a useful 1000 lumens, a medium and 350 lumens and a low of 150 lumens. The Eco mode is 30 lumens and is better suited when users are using the flashlight at closer distances, or when preserving battery life.
A strobe is also present, this too has an output of 3100 lumens.
Single Side Switch with built in Battery Level/Charge Indicator
Fenix are known for their well rounded UI experience, and this model is no different. In addition to easy operation (press the switch for half a second to turn On/Off), you can simply single press the switch to cycle the levels, a long press enters the strobe mode.
You also have a lock out function to prevent accidental activation, and it features a mode memory (eco, low, med levels)
In the center of the metal switch, a useful LED indicator shows not only the charging state (red charging, green when done), but also features a multi stage battery level indicator with 4 stages, using a combination of Green/Red static and flashing – you will clearly see how much power is left in the flashlight when turning it on.
A port cover protects the USB C port, which can provide a fast charging speed (3 hours). Fenix has drop tested the E35R to 1.5 metres, it’s rating of IP68 ensures reliable operation in all types of weather conditions.
Quality anodized body should give many years of reliable service, this heat treated aluminum is far stronger than normal aluminum as it is mixed with other metals to make it stronger.
Due to the form factor the E35R is well suited as a general purpose, or camping EDC flashlight.
