All-New Maglite XL50 Compact AAA Flashlight

All-New Maglite XL50 Compact AAA Flashlight

This small yet simple to use Maglite model is available in 5 attractive and stylish colors (red/silver/black/blue/gray).At the heart of the XL50 is a user friendly experience, thanks to a large tail cap switch.

It is powered via 3 x AAA 1.5V batteries, these cells are common and easy to find, and it is also convenient to use Ni-MH rechargeable cells, or disposable Alkalne ones.

With a top output of 200 lumens, it’s more than enough for general purpose use, yet also features a lower level to preserve battery life. Or when using the flashlight at close distances. Maglite also included a strobe mode too for use in an emergency.

A quality finish has always been part of the Maglite experience, and the XL50 has the same premium quality materials users have come to expect.  An aerospace grade aluminum body is water resistant to IPX4, and drop tested to 1 metre.

The XL50 is quite small at 121.92mm (4.8”) length, with a body/head diameter of 25.4mm (1”). Weight is 104g (3.68oz).

3 Modes with 2 power levels and a strobe function

Two power levels ensure you can reach into the distance when required, or use the XL50 up close without over powering the light output.

The top mode has a rating of 200 lumens, with a beam range of 224 metres, which is quite impressive for it’s power level (beam intensity of 12533cd).

A second lower level is rated at 25% power of the top one, this gives around 50 lumens output, and is useful to retain battery life over longer periods, or when working up close where higher output levels are not needed.

Run times vary from 6 hours 45 minutes at the top 200 lumens, to an extended run time of up to 25 hours at the low level (50 lumens).

Power is via the supplied battery holder, this takes 3 x AAA batteries and can be used with 1.5V cells (Alkaline or Zinc Carbon), or with rechargeable ones. Alkaline cells are supplied in the blister pack.

Large tail cap switch for ease of use

Operating the XL50 is made very simple, partly due to the well sized large tail cap switch.

The UI is easy to pick up, a single click turn On/Off the flashlight (at the high mode of 200 lumens), turn on with two quick clicks takes you directly to the 25% power level (50 lumens), with 3 clicks giving direct access to the strobe mode.

Strobe can be quite useful in an emergency, to dazzle or to bring attention to your location.

Maglite continue to use the durable aerospace grade heat treated aluminum body, this long proven material gives a long service live and is very good at resisting damage. The weather resistance of IPX4 means you can  use it even in wet conditions, and Maglite also drop tested it to 1 metre. Thanks to the small size the XL50 is a great EDC carry or a useful addition to a toolbox, or when camping.
