A clever new design from Fenix which allows the user to use a rotary/toggle switch for single handed electronic beam control.
The flashlight has an OLED display with output mode and battery/charging information, and features 5 power levels and 2 strobe modes, with a top output of 2800 lumens, and a spotlight or floodlight beam, maximum range is 480 metres.
It uses a high capacity 21700 Li-ion battery rated to 5000mAh, with run times up to 65 hours (Eco mode 20 lumens), and the Fenix features a built in type C charging port, for quick charging of the cell, with charge/battery information on the OLED panel.
Made from durable and strong AL 6061-T6 Aluminum alloy body with hard type III anodising. Fenix have tested it to IP68 water resistance, with 1.5 meter drop test passed.
Size of the LD45R is 155.3mm x 44.5mm x 32mm (length x head x body diameter), 302g weight including the battery.
Digital Focus System with floodlight and spotlilght beam up to 480 metres
Using a luminus SFT70 LED this has 5 power levels from Eco mode of 20 lumens low and mid or 150 and 350 lumens, high of 1000 lumens and a top level of 2800 lumens. More then enough power adjustment for multiple uses.
What sets the Fenix apart is that is has a single handed electronic control over the beam profile, most flashlights use a mechanical zoom action, which requires the user to use their other hand to change it. Here simply rotating the rotary switch (270 degree rotation) lets you move the internal mechanism to achieve the beam you want.
At the spotlight mode setting it can reach up to 480 metres in Turbo (2800 lumens), or in floodlight the range is 164 metres. A bit difference, which can be useful depending on what your needs are, more range or a wider pattern to illuminate a larger area.
UI also benefits from this rotary switch with another push button switch in the middle letting you select the output or mode. The Fenix also has a mode memory, shortcuts to Turbo etc and a lock-out mode too.
