A high capacity 21700 lithium-ion battery is supplied with a rating of 6000mAh. It's charged in the flashlight via a concealed USB C port which helps prevent dirt and dust entering. Battery level indicator is also built in. Charge times are around 3. hours from flat (using an 18W adapter).
Additional body knurling provides a secure grip even in the wet. It's made from premium aluminum alloy, with a hardened anodised coating and strike bezel. Tempered glass cover with anti reflective coatings ensures maximum light transmission. It's been rated to IP68 for water and dust resistance, and drop tested to a distance of 1 metre.
The PD405R is still relatively compact at 157.7mm x 30mm x 25.9mm, weight is 200.5g (including battery).

Using a luminus SFT gen. 2 Cool white LED, the Fenix has a high power output of 3200 lumens, 6 power levels including an eco mode of 30 lumens and a strobe. In the turbo mode of 3200 lumens the candela rating is 41900, with a range of 410 metres.
A multistage tactical switch gives complete control over the flashlight, and is used in combination with a rotary dial.
Users are also able to set their own user interface/power levels/modes, using a combination of the main switch and rotary dial, 6 different combinations are possible with access to strobe modes or turbo, or limiting some modes in order to provide faster operation. It's up to you how you wish to use the flashlight, and the choice of operation is a welcome addition. It also features a lock mode to prevent accidental activation.
