Joining the other popular EDC series flashlights, this new one from Nitecore has a combination of powerful output and longer range beam pattern.
With a top level of 3500 lumens, the EDC31 flashlight has a choice of levels from an ultralow of 5 lumens, and a choice of Floodlight (3500lm) or Spotlight (1500lm), giving you both wider and concentrated beams profiles in one flashlight.
A built in new higher capacity (18650) USB-C charged battery is rated to 3800mAh, for long run times up to 57 hours (5 lumens), and features 4 level power and battery charge indicators right next to the tail cap switch.
The Nitecore comes with a clip and lanyard, and features a lock out switch for quick and simple lockout mode selection, with a half lock and full lock available.
As expected from Nitecore, the build materials are robust with aero grade aluminum alloy, with HA type III heat treatment for durability and damage resistance. The lens is also hardened with anti reflective coatings for improved light transmission.
It can be used in all types of weather, thanks to the IP68 rating, including 2 metres submersion, and drop tested to 2 metres.
It’s a great size for a pocket EDC, at 113.2mm x 23mm, and a weight of 100g (with built in battery), and 19.7% shorter in length v the EDC33 model.
9 Core NiteLab Uhi 20 Max LEDs with 6 modes and Spot/Floodlight beam output
Nitecore continue to expand their in house LEDs with the NiteLab series, this time it’s a 9 core offering the 20 Max, a single LED is surrounded with 8 auxillary LEDs, giving improved output, efficiency, and run times. As well as the unique ability to offer both floodlight and spotlight modes in one single flashlight, reducing the need to purchase separate models for short or long range applications.
6 levels in total give a wide range of outputs, from the lower 5 and 70 lumens mode, 300, 1100, and 1500, 3500 lumens.
Top range is an impressive 380 metres (in spotlight mode).
UI is very easy, with a dual stage tail switch giving you quick access to the Luminshield mode (full press), with a half press to cycle modes, and the Search light output.
