Two new offerings from Streamlight, designed for use with hard hats (safety helmets), they are also durable enough to withstand the rigours of being used on a construction or engineering site.
The differences between the 2 models. The normal SL one has a top output of 300 lumens (combined), with the USB one having a higher output of 400 lumens combined. This is due to the power source difference, the standard is powered via 3 x AAA cells, which can be easily replaced or you can use rechargeable ones. USB has a Li-ion polymer cell (which can be replaced), and offers the convenience of USB-C charging. Both are available in black or yellow colors.
Run time on lowest output can be as long as 16 hours (normal model flood beam 60 lumens), ensuring you have light all night long.
As the lights are mounted on top of the helmet/hat, they don’t interfere with the use of other items such as safety googles, or hearing protection. They can also be rotated around using the helmet mount, so you can adjust the direction of the light.
Body of the lights is made from ultra touch super nylon, with high impact resistance, a near unbreakable polycarbonate lens, and with extensive sealing on the O rings throughout. This means they are rated to IPX7 for water resistance for 1 metre depth for 30 minutes, and drop tested to 2 metres.
They are small enough to carry without adding much weight, at only 7.62cm length, and weight of 96.39g.
Choice of AAA powered, or Li-ion USB charging, with spot/flood/combination beams
Each light has spot, floodlight and combination beams with a high and low mode for each. The standard model for Spot has: 250lm, and 60lm, Flood, 235lm, 60lm, and Combined, 300lm and 110lm. These are slightly higher for the USB version, with Spot offering 350lm and 100lm, Flood has 325lm and 85lm, with the Combined mode of 400lm and 160lm.
Max range is 100 metres for the normal model, and 130m for the USB one.
Both also come with a bright rear Blue light which is for safety and visibility. Both the main light and rear can be programmed.
Operation is via a simple push button tail switch so you can quickly move between modes and light outputs.
