Another addition to the Waypoint range, this model is able to output a powerful 1400 lumen bean that can reach as far as 1265 metres.There are two other output levels available, at 600 lumens and 38 lumens.
The design is rigged, yet portable and the body is weight balanced with a special cushion grip for comfort and stability. The pistol grip style is well suited for this type of spolight – with the trigger always within reach making the operation simple.
A clever feature is the built in stand at the top of the body, you can flip it out and turn it over so it can stand on it’s own without falling over. Ideal if you need a working light.
Power is via a rechargeable Li-ion battery, this power pack can provide enough endurance for the spotlight to run as long as 84 hours (low 38 lumens), and can be fully re-charged in as little as 4 hours.
Streamlight are using high impact polycarbonate materials for rugged durability, with a rubber lens ring to protect it from damage. The spotlight also floats if put in water, making retrieval possible. It is rated to IPX8 water resistance for 2 metres, and impact tested to 1 metre.
Size is 17.15cm (Length) x 18.14cm (Height) with a weight of 691g (1.52lb). The waypoint 400 comes in 2 colors black and yellow.
3 Power levels with a range of 1265 metres
The Waypoint 400 is using a specially designed “deep-dish” parabolic reflector, this is optimal for not only the high range a spotlight needs, but it also provides improved peripheral illumination. Candella is an impressive 400,000cd at the highest level.
3 Power levels are present the High mode and top output of 1400 lumens, a Medium of 600 lumens and a low mode of 38 lumens. These three levels give a good balance between output/performance, and battery life.
A number of optional accessories are available including Red & Green filters, travel and AC adapters, and waypoint holder.
Trigger and Rotary Switch designed for ease of use
Streamlight are using a trigger switch on the handle which is easy to feel by touch, and lets you control momentary, or constant on operation. The second rotary switch is placed at the back of the body and selects the 3 output levels High, Medium and Low. This avoids any accidental operation or level changes, and is very simple to remember.
Battery is supplied via the internal Li-ion battery pack, which has some impressive run times, Low (38lm) runss for 84 hours, Medium (600 lumens) 7.5 hours, and High (1400 lumens) can run up to 3.25 hours. A full change cycle can finish in as little as 4 hours. A charge indicator is built in (Red/Green LEDs).
The tough PC body and polycarbonate lens are near unbreakable with extra impact protection via the rubber front ring (it is impact tested to 1 metre) 2 metres water submersion. It is rated to IPX8 and comes with Streamlight’s limited lifetime warranty.
