The new Stinger from Streamlight has an emphasis on the quality of the light output, where many flashlights use lower CRI for weaker color rendering, here the Stinger has a very high CRI of 90, which give much more accurate color representation. Many also prefer the warmer more natural light output over the cooler ones.
In addition to the high quality LED, the 3 output levels range from 140-500 lumens. As expected from Streamlight the superior build quality of the flashlight is evident, with a machine aircraft grade aluminum body, with IPX4 weather resistance. Plenty of grip on the body with a high grade rubberized grip, and an anti roll body design.

3 Power levels with up to 500 lumens output
With Streamlight the emphasis has always been on better quality light output, and not just pure power. In the case of the Stinger the company has chosen a special high CRI LED (CRI 90), for improved colour rendering and comfort. With a rating of 3000 Kelvins, the warm light is very comfortable in use even for extended periods of time.
High output is 500 lumens with an impressive 265m beam distance, Medium 275 lumens with a range of 190m, and Low with 140 lumens with a throw of 134m. Run times are up to 1.5 hours for the highest level, 2.5 hours for medium and up to 5 hours at the low level. Strobe has a quoted run time of 3 hours.
There are a number of charging options with this model thanks to the Smart Charger. The included dock allows for quick and seamless charging, and can be mounted on a wall or other flat surface (screws are also included). A simple charging LED makes is very easy to see if the flashlight is charged; LED steady when charging, with a pulse every second to indicate a full charge. The dock also make this ideal for a general use home flashlight, or one which might be used for security where a fixed location in a work environment.
A vehicle charging option is also included, via a 12 volt car charger, giving you the option to charge the Stinger on the move. Charging times vary between source power, a 5V 1A USB is around 6-7.5 hours, with the 12V car charger 2.5-4 hours. An optional fast charger is also available.
Simple operation with a single side switch
It couldn’t be easier to use the Stinger, with it’s single high quality side switch which is very easy to find via touch alone.A light press give you access to momentary mode (at the highest output)Full press for On/Off. A long press/hold to cycle the power levels, with a double press to access the strobe function.
The Stinger also features a TEN-TAP programming switch, you can pick one of three difference programs simply by tapping the momentary function (9 times) Details are included in the user manual.
Solid and durable finishing complete the package, IPX4 weather resistance, drop tested to 1 metre, and a high strength unbreakable polycarbonate lens, which also has a scratch resistant coating.
