The catapult series from Thrunite is well respected for it’s “long throw” characteristics, and this new version, the Mini V2 is no exception.
What makes the Mini V2 stand out is the tiny pocket friendly size, at just 85.8mm x 40.4mm x 26mm, and a weight of 90g (without the battery). Yet it is still able to throw big distances of up to 515 metres with a Turbo output of 1100 lumens. It’s a tiny powerhouse of a flashlight and it’s performance deifies it’s compact size.
Power is via a 1100mAh 18350 rechargeable battery, with charging provide by the built in USB C Port on the Mini V2.It features 5 power levels, with 3 strobe modes and a battery indicator built into the metal side switch.
It’s drop tested to 1.5 metres, and is rated to IPX8 water resistance for up to 2 metres submersion.

Using the SFT40 LED the range and output in Turbo is impressive for such a tiny flashlight, hitting 515 metres (candela of 66150cd) using a super smooth reflector at an output of 1108 lumens, 4 other power levels are available, a high mode of 331 lumens, a medium of 160 lumens, low 70 lumens, and a useful firefly output of just 0.6 lumens for up close use. Run times are up to 85 hours (firefly) or 6.6 hours (low).
Buyers can also pick between a choice of Cool or Neutral white emitters.3 special strobe modes are built in, the standard strobe, an SOS and beacon (strobe is at 331 lumens).
USB C charging, just open the flap to charge the battery in the torch, a useful battery charge status in the middle of the metal side switch. The 18350 size Li-ion cell is able to offer a compact form factor, yet provide a much higher capacity then smaller cells (such as 16340). Additional cells can also be purchased to ensure you have a back up power supply.

Thrunite have a nice and easy UI on this flashlight, a single press On/Off, with long press cycling through the power levels. But you also have shortcuts to firefly (long press turning on), Turbo (double press quickly), and strobe (triple press). A mode memory is present too for the main levels (excluding Turbo/Firefly/Strobe).
You can also lock out the flashlight to stop accidental activation.A battery level indicator (and charge indicator) are fitted to the mid part of the switch, this LED changes color to let you know how much power you have left(red/purple/blue).
