Two new updated models from Zebralight offer a unique combination of features which will appeal to headlamp fans.
Firstly the key difference between these two is the H53Fc N has a flood beam pattern for a wider profile and illumination, where as the H53c N has a more standard beam with a mix of range and spread.
Both of these headlamps feature a high CRI output of 93, this gives a more accurate and balanced representation of colors, and when combined with the warmer tint (which is rated to 4000K), many will find the output to be more pleasant to use for extended periods of time.
Power is via one AA size battery and it is possible to use Alkaline or Ni-MH cells or Lithium ones. There some useful additional features present, including the well known Zebralight sub levels, giving you a choice of output which is more extensive than many makers and gives increased flexibility over the 3 main ones.
Using a hardened aluminum material made from premium high grade stocks, they are also given a HA III anodized finish to help prevent marks and increase longevity. IPX8 rated for 2 meters submersion (for up to 30 minutes) ensures reliable running even in difficult conditions. A quality headband is also supplied which ensures maximum comfort.
Size is a key design concept for these Zebralight models, they are just 75mm x 21.8mm (length x head diameter) with a weight of 79g (with an Eneloop AA cell and headband).
Nichia 519A-V1 LEDs with a choice of beam patterns
With 2 different types of beam output on offer, Zebralight have given users a choice. The H53Fc N has a more spread out flood beam, this is achieved using a special frosted lens which gives a spread of around 90 degrees, lighting up a wide area
H53c N uses a textured reflector which gives a combination beam pattern, mixing range and spread. This model has a spill of 80 degrees, with a hot spot of 12 degrees.
Beacon and strobe modes also feature on these 2 headlamps. There are some useful additional functions present too, the ability to check the battery level (with LED flashes), automatic step down to prevent over discharge of the battery, and reverse polarity protection.
Recessed switch with comprehensive UI
Zebralight are well known for both their quality switches and customisable UI. This features a high quality switch, this is set back into the body or recessed to make it easier to find and prevent accidental operation.
Catering for all users, these offer both simple/basic operation and more advanced configurations.
It is possible to user select the groups/sub levels and pick the required output you want, this greatly increases your options in terms of power output, allowing you to customise/program the light to your own personal needs. Some modes can also be adjusted to 12 available brightness levels, or if you prefer you can simply use it in a very intuitive and basic mode using the 3 main power levels and shortcuts to the strobe modes.
If you make a mistake programming the headlamp, it is easy to reset it to factory defaults with multiple clicks/presses on the switch.
Using a higher grade heat treated aluminum body, a custom sealed and potted LED driver, IPX8 rating for water submersion (30 minutes 2 metres), a tempered glass cover protects the LED and reflector, and has optical grade glass and coatings.
These compact but well featured headlamps are sure to be popular among users who require a high quality output and body design.
