The Imalent MS18 is one of the most powerful portable flashlights in the world in fact thanks to its 18 second generation CREE XHP70.2 American imported LEDs it is able to pull out 100,000 lumens with a beam range of 1350 meters and a maximum light intensity of 458000 cd. The beam of the Imalent MS18 has a color temperature of 6500K and differs from that of its sister Imalent MS18W which instead has a warmer tint of about 5000K.
The Imalent MS18 has inside two fans for active heat dissipation positioned near the head. These, by pushing the air forcefully inside the head, are able to regulate the temperature of the flashlight and dissipate the heat produced by the powerful LEDs when the flashlight is used on high power output levels
The tailcap can be unscrewed for access to the charging interface: It is also flat and therefore allows you to use the flashlight in tailstanding.
The large head of the Imalent MS18 contains the LEDs, the switch and all the circuitry, while the tube contains a battery pack made up of 8 3.6V 21700 cells for a total power of 92.2Wh.
The threads are precise, arrive well lubricated and are anodized so it is possible, by slightly unscrewing the head from the torch body, to mechanically lock the user interface and avoid accidental switching on.
The dimensions of the Imalent MS18 are 265 mm (length) x 129 mm (head diameter) x 59 mm (body diameter), while the weight is 1900 g including the battery pack.
Near the head there is a small metal ring that allows you to install the carrying strap supplied.
The battery pack is recharged through the charging interface in the queue and using the power supply provided in the package. A red light is visible on the battery pack during the charging phase and turns green when charging is complete.
On the Imalent MS18 we have a single switch that allows you to access all the functions and interface shortcuts. It is metallic, protruding and easily operated even when wearing gloves.
Above the switch there is a small OLED display that allows the user to instantly view the output level used, the information on the interface block and the battery voltage. There are also two small auxiliary LEDs next to the switch that allow you to quickly locate the switch when in total darkness.
The user interface is simple, easy to remember and full of features: from the torch off with a click the light turns on, with a double click you access the Turbo and with a triple click the voltage is displayed on the small OLED screen. With the flashlight on, however, a single click will turn off the flashlight, double will allow access to the Turbo, prolonged click to cycle the various output levels in the order Low / Middle Low / Middle I / Middle II / High I / High II / High III lumens. The 100000 lumen Turbo is not present in this cycle but can be easily recalled via a shortcut.
With the flashlight off, press and hold the switch to turn on the auxiliary LEDs located above the switch. Four quick and consecutive clicks to activate the fans without necessarily having to turn on the light and 5 consecutive clicks to electronically lock the interface. From flashlight in lockout mode, click the switch 5 times to unlock the interface.
The Imalent MS18 arrives in a beautiful rigid package with a practical carrying handle. Inside we find in addition to the flashlight also a 19V charger for fast charging, a carrying strap, spare o-rings and a user manual.
