The Nitecore P23i is a compact but very powerful flashlight for everyday use or for tactical applications. It is equipped with a high-performance Luminus SFT-70 LED that produces a beam with a maximum power of 3000 lumens per Turbo. Incredible power when compared to the extremely small size of this flashlight. The maximum luminous intensity is 55300 cd and the maximum range is 470 meters. The lens has an anti-reflective treatment and is made of mineral glass while the parabola is smooth with the Luminus SFT-70 LED.. The ergonomic shape of the body makes this flashlight very comfortable to hold even when you are using. The interface management switches are two and easily accessible via the thumb when the flashlight is held in hand. The Nitecore P23i is powered by a 21700i 5000mAh battery (NL2150HPi battery) that allows the flashlight to use up to 45 hours on the Ultra Low output level.

The cell is recharged via the type-c charging interface located near the head. It is well protected by a thick rubber cap which prevents water and dirt from penetrating inside.

The Nitecore P23i provides a simple user interface thanks to the two tactical tail switches. A switch allows you to turn the flashlight on and off with a total pressure until the click while if pressed only partially it allows access to the Momentary light. The second switch defined as Mode switch allows direct access to the very useful strobe for example in tactical or emergency situations. In addition, the Strobe light will flash at a variable frequency to have a greater stunning effect.

Although the tail is not flat, it is still possible to use the torch standing as if it were a candle placed on a flat surface. Furthermore, the particular design of the tail avoids any type of accidental switching on when the light is carried inside a backpack. At the tail there are also large holes for inserting the lanyard or small carabiners.

The bezel that protects the lens is equipped with high-hardness spheres made of ceramic and can be used in emergency situations as a glass breaker

The temperature regulation system (ATR or Advanced Temperature Regulation) adjusts the output of the P23i automatically according to the environmental conditions in which it is found to always maintain optimal performance and maximum user comfort.

The dimensions are Length 143.5 mm / 5.65 in x  Head Size 31.8 mm / 1.25 in x 41 mm (1.61 ") while the weight is 114.5 g / 4.04 oz. This means that the Nitecore P23i is a flashlight that fits perfectly in the palm of any hand and that can also be carried comfortably inside a pocket, pouch, backpack and even inside a bag.

Another Great Light Just Short of Perfection

This has been a running theme with all of the Nightcore lights I have purchased; it's just shy of being awesome. I made this purchase after grabbing a TM9K because this would actually fit in a pocket and appeared to have the same (frankly excellent) UI of the TM9K. While it looks similar, this light has a mechanical on/off switch and makes more use of the "Mode" switch. It's fine, but has way too-easy access to strobe modes, which isn't useful day to day, and I doubt it's useful in a tactical environment. Exterior fit and finish is superb like many Nightcore lights. This utilizes the excellent Luminous SFT-70, a great choice for a light this size. The weakest link here? What I thought was an upgrade over the internal battery of the TM9K: the swappable battery. It's proprietary, like an Olight! Gross! Instead of making use of interior sleeves (a la Noctigon KR1/KR4 or Acebeam E70) or wiring of some kind, the battery itself brings the negative side to the positive side, and after just a few open-close cycles, is already getting beat up. I dislike internal charging, but it looks like I'll have to treat this light like it has a not-swappable battery. Lesson learned on these i-series lights.
