Die XTAR R30 1200 ist eine lineare Taschenlampe im 21700-Format, die XTAR als Sporttaschenlampe definiert. Sie ist eine Weiterentwicklung der vorherigen R30-Version und wurde in vielerlei Hinsicht verbessert. Die Leistung steigt von 1000 Lumen der R30 auf 1200 Lumen der R30 1200 mit einer Turbo-Laufzeit von 2,6 Stunden (vorher nur 2 Stunden). Die Ladeschnittstelle wurde auf Typ-C umgestellt, während die verwendete Zelle vom 18650 des Vorgängermodells auf den 21700 des neuen Modells R30 1200 umgestellt wurde. Auch die LED hat sich geändert: Von XM-L2 U3 zur leistungsstärkeren XP-L2.

Die Ladeschnittstelle Typ C ist ebenfalls bidirektional, daher ist es möglich, die Taschenlampe als klassische Powerbank zu verwenden, um beispielsweise Ihr Smartphone und Tablet oder jedes andere mit dem USB-Anschluss kompatible Gerät mit Strom zu versorgen. Es gibt vier mögliche Leistungsstufen, die wie folgt aufgeteilt sind: wir haben einen 1200-Lumen-Turbo mit 2,6 Stunden Autonomie, eine hohe Stufe mit 650 Lumen mit 3,4 Stunden Autonomie, eine mittlere Stufe mit 300 Lumen mit 9,1 Stunden Autonomie und eine niedrige Stufe mit 30 Lumen mit 70 Stunden Autonomie. Die Taschenlampe wird von einer einzelnen 4900 mAh 21700-Zelle betrieben, 40 % mehr Kapazität als eine 18.650-Batterie, die im vorherigen Modell verwendet wurde. Die Schnittstelle ist einfach, intuitiv und wird vollständig über den einzigen Schalter im Inneren der Taschenlampe verwaltet. Die Funktion zum Speichern der zuletzt verwendeten Stufe ist ebenfalls verfügbar. Sie wird drei Sekunden, nachdem das Licht ausgeht, aktiviert. Die Speicherfunktion umfasst nicht die Stroboskop- und SOS-Stufen. Der seitliche, gummierte Schalter zur Steuerung der Schnittstelle verfügt über eine Status-LED, die den Ladezustand der Batterie anzeigt. Leuchtet die grüne LED dauerhaft, liegt der Ladezustand zwischen 25 % und 100 %, leuchtet die rote LED dauerhaft, liegt der Ladezustand zwischen 25 % und 18 %, und blinkt die rote LED, liegt der Ladezustand unter 18 %. Das Gehäuse der Taschenlampe besteht vollständig aus eloxiertem Aluminium. Die Länge beträgt 158,2 mm, der Kopfdurchmesser 36 mm und der Gehäusedurchmesser 28,4 mm. Das Gewicht beträgt 148 Gramm (ohne Batterie). Die Leistungsstufen sind wie folgt aufgeteilt: Turbo 1200 Lumen und 2,6 Stunden Autonomie; Hoch 650 Lumen und 3,4 Stunden Autonomie; Mittel 300 Lumen und 9,1 Stunden Autonomie; Niedrig 30 Lumen und 70 Stunden Autonomie; Stroboskop 650 Lumen und SOS von 650 Lumen. Die maximal erreichbare Entfernung beträgt 226 m, während die maximale Lichtstärke 12.820 Kerzen beträgt. Die Stoßfestigkeit entspricht dem IPX6-Standard, die Fallfestigkeit beträgt bis zu 1,2 m Höhe. Im Lieferumfang sind neben der Taschenlampe auch ein 21700-Akku, eine Handschlaufe, ein USB-Ladekabel und eine Bedienungsanleitung enthalten.
