The Convoy T3 Copper Head EDC Flashlight is a meticulously crafted piece of equipment designed for those who demand reliability and efficiency in a compact form. Constructed from durable titanium, the flashlight is both lightweight and robust, making it an ideal everyday carry (EDC) item. The lens is made of normal glass, offering clarity and durability, while the reflector, crafted from aluminum alloy, is vacuum-coated to ensure optimal light reflection. Depending on the LED choice, the reflector is available in either an orange peel texture for the 519A and LH351D LEDs, or a smooth finish for the KW CSLNM1.TG LED, allowing users to customize their beam pattern.

At the heart of the Convoy T3 is a copper MCPCB with a Direct Thermal Path (DTP) structure, which ensures efficient heat conduction away from the LED. Beneath this, a thermal grease with a conductivity of 3.0 W/(m·K) enhances heat transfer, though it's important to note that while the flashlight's integrated head structure promotes fast heat transfer, the actual dissipation of heat depends on the surface area of the flashlight.

The flashlight features a reverse type switch with an Au-coated phosphor copper spring soldered onto the PCB, capable of handling up to 10A of current without the need for a bypass. The tail end of the flashlight is thoughtfully designed with chamfered edges and a U-shaped groove that makes it easy to operate the silicone button with the thumb. Additionally, a single-sided double rope hole ensures that attaching a lanyard does not interfere with the flashlight’s ability to stand on its tail.

In terms of electro-optical performance, the Convoy T3 is versatile. It can be powered by either an AA battery with a maximum output of 0.5A or a 14500 lithium battery, which boosts the output to 5A. The flashlight employs a boost constant current driver when using an AA battery and a FET driver for the 14500 lithium battery, with an efficiency range of 75% to 95%. The light output ranges from 300 to 1200 lumens, with an illumination distance of up to 50 meters, making it suitable for close to mid-range tasks.

The flashlight includes several advanced features such as low voltage warning, reverse polarity protection, and mode memory, which can be manually turned off by the user. A temperature control function gradually reduces the current as the temperature rises, although the surface of the flashlight may still become warm during extended use. The tailstand capability allows the flashlight to be used as a stationary light source when needed.

The Convoy T3 does not come with a battery, giving users the flexibility to choose from a variety of battery types, including 1.2V NiMH, 1.5V alkaline, 1.8V lithium metal primary disposable, and 3.7V lithium 14500 batteries. The flashlight measures 96.8mm in length and 21mm in diameter, weighing 78g, making it compact and easy to carry. Included accessories are a lanyard and a clip, further enhancing its practicality as an EDC flashlight.

Operationally, the flashlight is simple yet sophisticated. It can be switched on or off with a full click of the tail switch, while half-pressing allows for mode switching. The flashlight automatically detects the battery type based on voltage, distinguishing between 1.5V and 4.2V batteries, and includes low voltage protection for 4.2V batteries. This feature triggers a slow flash when the voltage drops below 3V, and the flashlight shuts down at 2.8V. However, no such protection exists for 1.5V batteries.

The Convoy T3 offers 12 different mode groups, which can be accessed and configured by quickly tapping the switch 20 times. This allows users to tailor the flashlight's performance to their specific needs, whether for general use or more specialized applications. The battery-check function provides a clear indication of the battery's voltage, with a series of flashes that correspond to different voltage levels, ensuring that users are always aware of the flashlight's power status.

In conclusion, the Convoy T3 Copper Head EDC Flashlight is an exceptionally well-designed tool that combines robust construction with advanced features, making it an ideal choice for both everyday use and more demanding situations. Its versatility in power options, coupled with customizable modes, allows it to adapt to a wide range of lighting needs. The attention to detail in its design, from the efficient thermal management to the user-friendly interface, makes it not just a functional device but also a reliable companion for any situation where dependable lighting is essential.

Drive parameters:

1. The flashlight is powered by a 1.5V battery or a 4.2V lithium battery. Switch the flashlight on or off by the tail switch (full click) or switch mode (Half-press).

The maximum output current is 0.5A when using a 1.5V battery, and the maximum output current is 1.5A when using a 4.2V lithium battery

2. Battery judgment function: When the voltage is above 2V, it is judged as a 4.2V battery, and when the voltage is below 2V, it is a 1.5V battery. It does not turn on when powered on by 2-2.8V.

3. Low voltage protection. When using a 4.2V battery, the voltage will flash 3 times slowly when the voltage is lower than 3V, and it will automatically shut down when the voltage is lower than 2.8V. When using a 1.5V battery, there is no low voltage protection.

At 4.2V, strobe (100%), slow flashing (30%), beacon (30%), battery detection (1%) SOS (20%), the above is the maximum brightness ratio.

Great light but...

I wish this has momentary press on, though I guess it helps to prevent accidental discharges, so it's a plus in that aspect. The build quality of the light is great, a little heavy for a 14500 but it also feels very robust for a 14500 flashlight. At this point I've had so many different 14500 flashlights and this is in my current TOP 5. LOVE the 2 way clip but wish they would've made it a little more robust, especially where it clips onto the flashlight. But all in all GREAT FLASHLIGHT and love the innovation and how things are going.
